We are on the lookout for
At Precis we have a set of principles that guide us in how we do things, and what we strive towards. While we (often) know what we want to do within digital marketing, we think it’s equally important to do it in a way that will ensure that we are and remain an open, inclusive, and great workplace. Therefore, at Precis:
we have curiosity at heart and strive to always learn.
we believe good judgment and transparency beat rules and hierarchy.
we question what we know today and embrace change.
we are helpful and collaborative, always.
we know excellence thrives in joyful and diverse environments.
we share knowledge and inspire others.
we seek, listen to, and give feedback honestly.
we are all responsible for making Precis the best it can be.

What did you do before joining Precis?
I actually did a BSc and MSc in biomedical science – so I worked with cancer cell lines in a research lab!
How has your development journey been since you joined?
I knew the basics of digital marketing when I started but after joining Precis, I’ve developed in-depth competencies in a wide range of platforms, such as Google Analytics, Supermetrics, Google Data Studio, Google Ads, YouTube and Facebook. Now I manage three client portfolios in more than 10 countries and drive Facebook leads tasks at the Stockholm office.
What does a normal workday for you look like?
I come into the office, start mapping out and prioritising daily (/weekly) tasks, check campaign performance and adjust budgets/set-up depending on the performance, attend a client meeting, analyse latest A/B test results, prepare for upcoming meetings, upload new campaign material, and so on. And I actually lead a small zen-session each week for my colleagues.

What do you do at Precis?
I work as a Senior Analytics Specialist in our Measurement Team. This means collecting, analysing and activating data for our clients using advanced methods.
How has your development journey been since you joined?
I joined Precis in August 2016 as an intern in a Digital Marketing team – as a student worker, and after finishing my studies I got a full-time position, I gradually transitioned into Measurement where I today have helped create and shape our local team and the work that we do – it’s a great example of the freedom given to shape your own work and change direction.
What’s the most exciting thing about your work right now?
Definitely the work we are doing within Attribution these days. It is a space where development moves fast, the challenges are big, and we as a company are able to make our mark on the industry as a whole.

What does a normal workday look like for you?
It definitely varies from day to day but analyzing performance, all sort of client contact and managing accounts within different platforms are tasks that I handle everyday.
Could you describe a client project that you have enjoyed?
I have a client that I have worked with for a couple of years and that used to primarily be a mail order company. Being a part of their journey, and being involved in helping them find a more online-focused marketing strategy has been truly interesting.
What are you looking forward to in 2019?
I’m looking forward to seeing what changes and possibilities Facebook brings this year!

What did you do before joining Precis?
Phd studies in theoretical physics, quantum information.
What’s the best thing about your role?
I have the opportunity to constantly learn new things, in many different areas; from algorithms, statistics and programming, to how to organize teamwork.
What are Precis key strengths and key challenges as a workplace?
For me, Precis is an honest organisation, in that there are no large discrepancies between narrative and reality; I appreciate the transparency and that we do not claim to be something we are not. The main challenge is to maintain collaborative functions, such as knowledge sharing, when we grow and have separate offices.

What do you find interesting about digital marketing?
The high level of data-driven activity behind everything in digital marketing means almost every path to a purchase can be attributable and a source of hidden value and opportunities. It is a field where there are constant discoveries to be made amongst the data, it is this level of curiosity-kindling which I find most interesting!
What are Precis key strengths and key challenges as a workplace?
The key strengths in my eyes are a high level of freedom and trust instilled in co-workers with access to subject-matter experts from a wide range of backgrounds which means there is enormous opportunity to learn a lot in a very short period of time. As for key challenges, the differences amongst many clients means there is no single solution which is applicable to all – which means often you will need to also discover and learn yourself how best to face a challenge which no one else may have yet encountered.

What did you do before joining Precis?
I worked in paid media at Microsoft and a few tech startups in the San Francisco Bay Area for a few years. Before that, however, I did a master’s in Scandinavian linguistics and literature! I have also been working as a freelance literary translator for the last six years or so, which is a great hobby in my free time.
What’s the best thing about your role?
I’m a Facebook nerd, so I love being on the forefront of all the new tech and best practices – and of course sharing my knowledge with my colleagues.
What are Precis key strengths and key challenges as a workplace?
The strengths are without a doubt the people. I have never worked somewhere with not only so much competence and passion, but also with such fun, friendly and unbelievably inspiring coworkers. As for challenges – agency life will always be incredibly fast-paced, which can be both a good and bad thing! You really need to learn how to manage your time and prioritize.

What do you do at Precis?
I work as a Senior Digital Specialist and I mainly work with product development for SEO, producing products which Precis can use for SEO-purposes.
What do you find interesting about digital marketing?
The power behind it. It’s one thing to build a great website but totally another thing in making people visit it. There is so much data out there today which you can use to help people interested in your offer to find it. I come from a web-dev and a marketing background. Digital marketing blends these two areas in a very interesting way.
What are you looking forward to in 2019?
Google is releasing more information and support for technical SEO. Will be interesting to see what comes out during 2019.

What do you do at Precis?
I work at Precis as a Digital Specialist and am part of the team in the Aarhus office. I’m also studying at the university so I currently work as a student employee, approximately 20 hours a week. My main responsibilities include client work, where I am the primary contact person for two Finnish e-commerce stores. Apart from working with clients, I help my colleagues in varying projects and tasks.
How has your development journey been since you joined?
When I look back to when I started, I realize how much I have learned. Digital marketing was almost completely new to me so I have learned everything about it at Precis. I feel like Precis is a really good place to learn since there are always smart colleagues around and the materials provided for the new employees are great. Getting my head around all the small details was difficult at first but after repetition and getting hands-on experience I have learned a lot. During my time at Precis, I have developed professionally as well as personally. I know that the development process will never stop since we are working with this great, ever-changing industry!

Taking on more responsibility, gaining more knowledge and also helping the Linköping office grow.
Our Offices
Stockholm
Our Stockholm office is located on Kungsholmen, where two floors of amazing people work together on solving digital marketing challenges. In 2015, 26 of us and a few boxes moved into this office. Now we are about 80 persons and growing, and “Hubben” where we have our bi-weekly breakfast meetings is starting to get crowded. It’s our fourth office so far and while we enjoyed both Gamla Stan and Södermalm, we now feel very at home on this great “Holme”.

At the beginning of 2018, we had the pleasure to get to know Linköping better when we opened up our office on Platensgatan 1. Since then our attic office has become a fully fledged digital marketing hub and we have gathered some great people who together are working both with our own clients as well as supporting our colleagues at all the other offices.

The second office is a charm! In 2018 we moved to Åvägen – and got the joy of designing an office from scratch. We ended up with 12 meeting rooms designed in different themes ranging from the west coast of Sweden to Italy and a lot of space to grow our digital marketing teams. We still get excited that we now have space for both a great coffee machine as well as a massage and physiotherapy room.

6 offices later, we are still thriving in Nørrebro. Our last move, in the spring of 2019, was to acquire a new floor in our building and design it to become a haven of meeting rooms and open space to use for events and gatherings, such as for some office-morning-gymnastics each Tuesday and Thursday. On the two upper floors, we do digital marketing and web analytics.

Aarhus is the seventh Precis office, we opened up in March 2018 and were more than excited to be able to have an office in such a great city with some of the best tech universities around the corner. About a year after opening the doors in Aarhus we’ve outgrown to office spaces, which lead us to move to Hasle Torv close to Aarhus BSS where we enjoy more space for both our desks as well as for creating spaces for collaboration, meetings and afterworks. Currently, we are in the process of moving again – so pictures will be uploaded when we have settled in!

In August 2017 we opened up our first non-Nordic office and said hello to the UK. We started off in Old Street with five employees and a couple of clients. Since then, twenty digital marketing stars have joined us and in March 2019 we were in need of a larger office. We are now happily situated in Clerkenwell. We have tried to capture some of Precis’ Nordic roots in our office space by having meeting rooms named after famous IKEA furniture and sitting down together for Fika (coffee break with cake) every Wednesday.

In August 2019 we gathered all our belongings, computers and the Precis sign and moved to Møllergata 12 in the beating heart for Oslo city centre. This is our third office in Oslo since the start in 2015 – and we are happy it’s easily the best so far! Previously we have been sharing some office space with other companies but now we have an entire floor of our own, with great features such as our own reception area, massive kitchen and common area. Naturally, we also made sure to include both table tennis and a foosball table to keep the competitive vibe going. This is truly a vibrant workspace for all of us working here and everyone that may visit our offices going forward.

Challenges
We’re happy that a lot of things we have done over the last seven years have lead us to a point where we feel comfortable in saying that we can do great work within digital marketing. But given the speed and development of both our own company and the industry itself, we are not even nearly done. And as nice as it is to share success stories - we also think one should be open with challenges faced - to be honest, it's challenges and working on solving them that keeps us inspired.
Solving attribution
From the start we have been intrigued by the challenge in finding out the true value of marketing since it will allow us to buy media as efficiently as possible. Over the years we have come a long way, developing our own attribution algorithms and a proven software. The main challenge within attribution has always been a lack of data. We have to find ways to model for data that is not available, and it will become even more challenging with the privacy revolution and developments within ITP. Nevertheless, aiming for identifying the true vale of marketing will just be more important the harder it gets.
Rapid growth
Growing from 3 to about 220 individuals spread around seven offices in seven years has tremendously increased the need to find and try new ways of both keeping us together as well as allowing for each individual to be able to find their way. Our latest experiment has been to try out flexible public holidays and we are now trying to figure out how to make sure we get every bit of synergy out of being a group of people that finds, creates and shares a lot of knowledge and information.
It used to be simple
Digital marketing is the same practice as traditional marketing, but with better data. Each interaction should be thought of as distributed communication, and the goal should be to maximise relevancy for each investment. In the early days this was not that complex, there was a limited amount of dimensions to optimise for, and success was based on structure and processes. Today, the digital marketing landscape has grown very complex, and data that can be used for optimisation is vast. It‘s clear that the art has shifted towards selection of strategies, automation and innovation, and it has just become more exciting as the challenge has grown.
