What did you study?
I completed a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business Administration from Aarhus University School of Business and Social Sciences in the summer of 2020.
How much did you know about digital marketing before you started?
Before I started my journey in digital marketing, I had gained some foundational knowledge through my work experience at an e-commerce company in London. While I was familiar with the various aspects of digital marketing, I hadn’t yet had the opportunity to delve deeply into any one area. Joining Precis gave me the chance to expand my skills and specialize in performance marketing, which has been both challenging and rewarding.
What’s the most exciting thing you have learnt since joining Precis?
One of the most thrilling things I’ve learned since joining Precis is the intricacies of bidding algorithms. During my time here, our industry underwent a significant transformation, moving from using our own in-house algorithms to embracing Google’s Smart Bidding approach. Being a part of this shift allowed me to gain a comprehensive understanding of how bids are calculated and how we could optimize our input to drive the best results, even when we were no longer in control of the algorithm. It was a challenging but incredibly rewarding experience.
What is your favourite thing about Precis?
I absolutely love the culture at Precis. It is an incredibly uplifting and enjoyable place to be, and I find myself eager to go to the office every day. The atmosphere is so positive and motivating that it enhances my work experience and makes me feel fulfilled in what I do. That’s why I prefer to be in the office rather than working from home.
What’s the best thing about your role?
My workday is quite dynamic and varies depending on the priorities of the moment. As the Head of Tech Product, my responsibilities include engaging with users to gain insight into their needs, defining requirements for our technology products, and facilitating discussions within the company on relevant topics and the products we’re building. It’s a fulfilling and dynamic role that keeps me on my toes and always provides new challenges to tackle.
What tips can you give to students that want to pursue a career in digital marketing?
For students who are interested in pursuing a career in digital marketing, my advice is to focus on understanding the principles and reasoning behind the various strategies available, rather than just memorising frameworks. The best way to learn digital marketing is by doing, so I highly recommend finding opportunities to gain hands-on experience through personal projects or assisting a friend with their online business. This approach will give you a deeper understanding and allow you to learn digital marketing in a meaningful and impactful way, which will benefit you greatly in any role that relates to the digital commerce space.
