How much did you know about digital marketing before you started?
Not much! Sure, I had heard of push and pull marketing and the stages of the marketing funnel, but my knowledge was very limited and not specific to digital marketing. I learnt a lot from some very talented people and had a steep learning curve.
What is your favourite thing about Precis?
My favourite part of Precis is that you get the freedom and responsibility to find your own path to becoming a digital marketing expert. Team members are super valuable in helping you learn all the important steps in setting up campaigns, media planning, uploading ads, spitting through Google accounts to make sure we are bidding on the right keywords and reporting on KPIs. I also really appreciate that Precis is very open to you specialising in the things that interest you, whether that is Analytics, Media Strategy or Creative.
What’s the best thing about your role?
The best thing about being a Digital Specialist is the direct impact you can have on a client’s digital performance, which in turn can contribute significantly to their business goals. Precis’ goal is to help great companies thrive and as a Digital Specialist, you get the responsibility to actually contribute to this.
What does a normal workday look like for you?
A normal workday starts with checking the clients’ paid search and paid social accounts: are campaigns still running optimally? Do I need to reallocate the budget or investigate why certain KPIs are not being met? Should I make changes to the keywords we are bidding on in Google Ads?
Then it’s time to align with the team on our priorities for the week. A team member shared that they are testing an AR lens on Snapchat for an e-commerce client and it gets me thinking that it might be a good fit for a client I work with. I note it down to investigate later.
Time to hop on a client call to make sure we report on their main KPIs. This might also include discussing their business goals and how our paid marketing activities can best contribute to these goals.
The client asks what impact their ads on Meta are having on their growth targets in the Swedish market, so I spend a couple of hours investigating what the impact is and whether more investment can contribute even further.
Some days I might set aside an hour to attend a session hosted by a platform like TikTok on a new type of ad they are introducing or updates they are making to their platform. It is essential that I keep up-to-date with the channels in order to advise clients on where to invest time and resources.
Lastly, I upload some new ads on Meta for a client running a winter sale.
